I am an author and writing coach based in New Zealand. My first book, The Western Home, is a collection of historical fiction about the folk song "Home on the Range," centring on the story of the saddlebag physician who wrote the lyrics in Kansas in the late 19th century. My first novel, White Elephant, is about a Canadian surgeon running a medical clinic in a Sierra Leonean village at the beginning of the civil war. My current research interests are related to the microbiome, multi-drug resistant bacteria and alternative treatments for drug and alcohol addiction. As a Writing Coach, I usually work with memoirists, but I also love working with fiction and non-fiction writers. In addition to my coaching work, I am an editor and proofreader for fiction, non-fiction and academic writing. Check out the rest of my page for details and samples, or contact me for a quote.
